78 Records to CD

78 Records

The first disc format was the 10-inch 78 rpm record which was invented around 1900.  78's are cut with a much wider groove, about four times as large as 33 1/3 and 45's.  The record spins so fast, that a standard 10" disc holds about 3-4 minutes.  By 1960 78's were basically obsolete.

78's are prorated at the $45/hr rate, plus media cost, $5.00 per CD.  Multiple 78's can be combined to one CD Master.

 8-Track Tapes to CD

Introduced in the early 1960's 8-Track was the superior portable audio format of the 1970s.  It ruled the world of portable music.  This advanced container for a continuous loop of 1/4" magnetic tape was more portable and somewhat easier to use than record albums and soon made its way into a tremendous number of cars, trucks and vans of the 1970s.  8-Track cartridges were phased out of retail stores by 1983, replaced with the even easier to use cassette tape.

Straight 8-Track transfers are prorated at the $45/hr rate, plus media cost, $5.00 per CD.   If you require editing, the studio rate is $60/hr prorated.

Note: Edited Transfer Rate @ $60/hour:
This transfer consists of the sound engineer's continual assistance.
  • This would include compilations of any variety. (i.e. you require song 3, 7, 9 from one album and song 2, 5, 9 from second album.)

  • Changing the original source master with regard to cutting or adding songs, rearranging song order, repairing damages, fading into the song beginnings or fading out of the song endings, raising or lowering sound levels, enhancing treble or bass response (equalizing), adding effects or reverb and creating song compilations from single or multiple source masters.

Note: If you feel it necessary to be present in the mastering studio during any of the above procedures, the full edit rate will apply.  If a short review of the source master(s) in the initial set-up stages is required, the studio rate will be broken into 1/4 hour segments and added to your session charge.
